This book contained:
- 1 carbon typed letter from Joseph Needham to Arthur Waley, with Chinese characters in the left margin, 16 Jul. 1951
- Part of the original typescript letter with handwritten notes (possibly by Arthur Waley) at the top and handwritten notes in the left margin by Joseph Needham, 16 Jul. 1951. Joseph Needham's letter may have been sent back to him with a reply and notes, possibly connected with part of a letter held in NRI/SCC2/87/4/2.

An assignment (in Chinese) of the sale of Inland Lot No. 353 from Tsang Chun Sang (Tseng Ch'unhsing/Zeng Chunxin) to Chung Ayei (Tseng Erh/Zeng Er), 22 June 1857, including the English signature of the officer and the official stamp of Hong Kong. There is also a short English note describing the assignment.

An assignment (in Chinese) of the sale of Inland Lot No. 353 from Chun Kok Fie (Ch'en Kuohui/Chen Guohui) chen to Tsang Chun Sang (Tseng Ch'unhsing/Zeng Chunxin), 3 August 1853. The document includes English notes, including the registration number F5, and the signatures of William Chapman and M.C. Morrison, Assistant Chinese Secretary.
